Lately everything seems to be about EMBODIMENT.
About movement, dancing, Yoga, moving your emotions through your body.
And yes, yes I do it too. It IS a big part in my life too, which I got to rediscover in the last couple of years. I rediscovered dancing for me – not in the sense of going out at night and drinking, but in the sense of being able to feel myself again, to feel connection to my core and inner world, to express this inner world.
So yes. I absolutely dig EMBODIMENT.
And yet there’s worlds apart between embodiment practices and embodied living.
Embodiment practices help you to move your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Embodied living for me is a way of life.
It’s not reduced to a couple of practices a day, it’s to stand up to your inner world and bring it to the outside world. It’s small situations in the daily life, like when you feel grumpy, that you simply allow yourself to be this way, to not try to push it away. It is going out into nature, singing to her, because you FEEL it in your heart that this is what wants to be moved through you right now, not because you learned about it in some course.
All those women-, priestess and sister circles don’t shift anything, if you simply follow the practices without feeling their righteousness in your heart. Cacao won’t help you, if you don’t feel its’ calling. Yoga Trainings won’t broaden your horizon, if you’re not here to receive it’s wisdom, traveling won’t fill your heart, if the experience doesn’t call you.
Embodied living is not about joining sister circles, it’s not about drinking Cacao, it’s not about doing Yoga, it’s not about being vegan and it’s not about dancing.
Embodied living is to go for a walk when you feel it, it is to dance in the rain when you hear it calling your soul, it is to eat ice cream when your soul longs for it, it is joining a woman or man circle when you feel it, it is playing volleyball, it is sleeping in long, it is a 9 to 5 job, it is caring for your Mother, it is planting a tree, it is singing with the wind, lying naked in the grass. It’s going back home although you’d really rather stay in Portugal for longer. Embodied living is it all, when you allow yourself to step out of your own way and follow your hearts’ desire.
This is the real priestess shit.
Embodied living is not something you can learn in a course or from someone else, it’s something you discover in yourself. When you allow yourself to become vessel to something greater.
And it starts with feeling yourself again, your body and feeling what you need. It’s the realization that a calming meditation won’t help when you’re actually angry or that coffee’s not the way when all that your body needs, is sleep.
So let me ask you this: if you zoom into your body right now – what is it that you feel and need?
PS: The words for this post just came to me during a Yin Yoga practice and I’m so excited now to publish it, that I actually need to follow my body and stop the session in the middle of the practice to dance ✌🏻
